AME Educational Wind Tunnel
The educational wind tunnel (EWT) is an easy-to-use wind tunnel capable of airspeeds up to 60 m/s. The EWT comes equipped with models such as airfoils, cylinders, a wake rake, and a balance for use in the 24" L x 12" H x 12" W test section. Its user-friendliness makes it perfect for students to use as an introductory wind tunnel to learn the basics of wind tunnel testing. Experiments include calibrations, boundary layer measurements, pressure distributions over an airfoil, and force measurements (drag, lift, etc.). Moreover, research groups use the EWT to perform experiments for their projects. This has included various airfoil tests such as boundary layer separation control over a NACA 0015 airfoil at post-stall conditions using nanosecond dielectric barrier discharge actuators.
